How to Make your Easter Wreath – Your 9 Step Guide
Step 1 – Prepare your foliage
Prepare your foliage by cutting these into more manageable lengths and create piles of each of these on your workbench so you have easy access to these.
Step 2 – Add and secure foliage
Securely tie your twine to the back of your wreath ring and then start gathering small bunches of your foliage and wrap the twine around the end of these bunches to secure them to the wreath.
Step 3 – Continue adding foliage
Gather some more branches of your foliage place these slightly down from your previous bunches of foliage and again wrap with twine around the end. Repeat this process until you have covered all of your mossed wreath ring. When you get to the end you gently lift the first pieces that you placed on your wreath and tuck your bunches underneath, again secure with twine.
Step 4 – Tie off twine
Gently turn over your Easter wreath and tie off your twine to the back of your wreath, making sure this is well secured. Trim or tuck the excess twine from the back of your wreath as you don’t want to see this hanging.
Step 5 – Add wire to the eggs
Take your stub wires and fold these in half and then glue gun these to the back of your egg decoration or your other decorations then leave to dry.
Step 6 – Fix your eggs on the wreath
Once your glue has set on your egg decorations, decide where you want to place these and then you can push the stub wires through to the back of your Easter wreath, pushing the wires out to each side of the wreath at first until you are happy with the positioning of all your decorations and then you can twist the wires and push these back into the moss to secure the decorations.
Step 7 – Add some ribbon
Cut your ribbon(s) to at least 24 inches long, depending on how long you want your bow and tails of your bow to be. Find the middle point of your ribbon and then loop each side into the middle and create two loops, hot glue these, be careful not to burn yourself. Cut a 3 inch piece of ribbon and wrap this round the middle of your bows and glue this at the back, trim off any excess. Add a stab wire through the back of your bow and then push this through your wreath and secure this at the back in the same way as you secured your eggs.
Step 8 – Add any extra decoration
Add any other decorations that you wish to, I added some wooden bunny heads and I just hot glued these to the Easter wreath to secure.
Step 9 – Hang your wreath
If you are hanging your wreath on a wooden door you will want to use biodegradable backing to your wreath to stop it from marking your door, you can do this if you are hanging on any other type of door too. Now all that is left to do is hang your wreath!
My Tips and Notes
If you are hanging your wreath on a wooden door, be sure to cover the back of your wreath with a biodegradable backing, you can use wreath wrap or as a substitute you can use food waste bin liners, you can secure either of these options to the back of your wreath using moss pins. By doing this you should stop the moisture from your wreath marking your door.
How to hang your wreath on a UPVC door, you can buy a sticky hook and stick this upside down on the inside of your front door at the top and in the middle, leave this to stick for 24 hours before you hang your wreath from this. To hang your wreath, you will need to attach a long loop of ribbon, knot this at the top and bring the knotted end over the top of your door and hook this on your inside hook.
Remember when using a hot glue gun to make sure you follow the instructions and use this safely and taking care not to burn yourself!
Final Word
You don’t have to do what I did you can let your imagination run wild and see what you come up with and create, the principles are the same. Remember, the most important thing is to have fun and let your creativity shine! Easter is all about joy and celebration, and a beautiful wreath is the perfect way to welcome the season into your home.
