Sometimes It’s the little details that add the wow factor and get all the attention, so I thought I would learn how to make festive sugar cubes! These are so easy and I was really pleased with the results.
Jump to RecipeI like to add little details where I can, as these can make an occasion feel a little bit more special. I try to make sure everything I serve to friends, and family makes them feel special, and like I have put some effort in for them. So, I wanted to come up with something small and effective that I could add to a cuppa that is not a biscuit! And that’s how I came up with this simple, but really effective idea for festive sugar cubes!
Festive sugar cubes are really easy to make, and it gets even better as you only need a few simple ingredients to make them too! The hardest part about making these is finding a mould that is the right size and shape! And actually, that’s really not that heard once you do a little google search.
These sugar cubes can make great gifts too, so you could make an extra batch of these and pop them into a nice packaging bag, secure the bag so no moisture gets into it, the finish off with a pretty bow and gift tag. These make a lovely gift and I bet people will think they were quite expensive too!

How To Make Festive Sugar Cubes – Your 6 Step Guide to successful sugar cube making
Measure your sugar
Measure out your granulated sugar and pop this into your mixing bowl
Mix the water and colour
Add a small amount of your food colouring to your water and mix this in until you get the colour you want.
Add water to the sugar
Pour your water over the sugar in the mixing bowl, and evenly combine this until you have a damp sand consistency through your bowl.
Set in your mould
Press your sugar mixture into your mound and press this firmly in so all the sugar sicks together when it dries.
Let the set
Leave your sugar cubes to set, I left mine for 24 hours and they set perfectly. It will depend on your climate and humidity as to how long they take to set. Be patient as if you pop these out of your mould before they have properly set, they will crumble!
Store or Serve
Once your sugar cubes have properly set you can pop these out of the mould, and either into a cuppa or into an air tight container. Or if you are thinking of gifting these to someone else, then package them up nicely and gift away!

Storage & Shelf Life
Store these in an air tight container at room temperature and these will last for several months or more.
Tip’s
You could try adding some flavouring to your sugar cubes too if you fancy, I haven’t tried this yet, but I will be sure to share this when I do. Just be careful if you add flavour that you don’t over do it and that the flavour works with tea or coffee. Also store any flavoured cubes separate from your plain ones.
Final Word
So, there you have it, my easy recipe for festive sugar cubes, all you need to do now is pop the kettle on, make your favourite brew and ask one lump or two! I hope you have some fun with these I have.
