How To Make A Peonies Table Centre Piece

Table centrepieces are a lovely feature to any table and this can set the mood for the occasion for example at a wedding or it can just transform an ordinary dining table into a beautiful and elegant one. In this post you can learn how to make a peonies table centre piece.

When creating a centrepiece you can use fresh, dried or artificial flowers and you should consider the occasions this is for so you make sure you pick flowers that suit the required mood and create the right ambiance, for example by using light pinks, peonies and roses this gives off the ambiance of romance and elegance, whereas using brighter colours can set the mood for a high energy party and vibrant occasion.

What You Need

  • Grey foam block
  • Artificial flowers
  • Candle
  • Glue gun
  • Cake stand – See post on How to make your own cake stand
  • Ruler or measuring tape
  • Florist knife
  • Florist scissors

My flowers and candle are from IKEA, I also used some additional faux greenery from IKEA too.

How to Make it – Your 4 Step Guide

Step 1 – Prepare the foam block

Cut your foam block to the required size, you don’t want to see this poking out in your arrangement.

Step 2 – Measure out for candle

Place your candle in the middle of your foam block and then draw round this with your florist knife and cut down for about a quarter of an inch to half an inch and then scoop this out. When this is scoped out push your candle in to the hole.

I used a grapefruit spoon to help with the scooping of this as it has a slightly jagged edge so makes the cutting and scooping a little easier.

Step 3 – Secure the foam block

Use your glue gun to glue your foam block to the middle of your cake stand.

Step 4 – Time to get arranging

Add your chosen flowers and foliage and create your arrangement starting with your focal point flowers. Tip hold your flowers against the foam roughly first and don’t poke these through as you don’t want to put too many holes in the foam as this weakens the structure. When you are happy with where you want to places these then put the flowers into the foam block.

Tip’s

You can get so many lovely artificial flowers these days and very reasonably priced, sometimes you only need a couple of the more expensive ones and you can just use your cheaper options to fill-in.

You can use a grapefruit spoon to help with the scooping out of the foam block as it has a slightly jagged edge so makes the cutting and scooping a little easier.

Final Word

And there you have it a stunning table Centrepiece. This arrangement can be adapted to any seasonal flowers, so you can create all sorts of lovely centre piece arrangements. Table centre pieces are great for table décor at home or weddings or any other occasions and celebrations.
